What is a letter to your future self app?
A letter to your future self app lets you write to the person you'll be later, seal it, and have it open on a date you choose. Dear You does that, and it adds a gentle daily letter written to you, so there is always something to open and something to write back to.
One letter a day, one small step, one question worth answering.
Dear reader,
Here is what the app actually does, in the order you'd meet it.

- A letter for today. Choose encouragement, calm, a fresh start, courage, gratitude or a surprise. Dear You opens an original letter chosen for it. Every letter ends with one small, doable step and a question to sit with.
- A letter to future you. Seal it for a week, a month, a year, three years or five. It stays locked until its day, even from you. When it opens, write back and seal the reply for a later you.
- Open When. A shelf of sealed envelopes for real moments: can't sleep, doubting yourself, waiting on news, starting over, something finally went right. Seal your own, in your own words.
- A letter from you. Write back to any letter, gather notes into Personal Chapters that name seasons of your life, and search your private library.
Yours, Honest Little Apps

How to write a letter to your future self
- Pick the opening day first. A month out invites a check-in; a year or five invites a bigger look back.
- Write where you are now. What's heavy, what's going right, what you'd like to be true by then.
- Ask one real question. "Did you make the call?" gives future you something to answer.
- Be kind in the last line. Future you may open it on a hard day.
In Dear You, that reply becomes part of a letter thread, so the conversation with yourself can keep going for years.

A design decision we made
No streaks. Consistency Blooms, monthly recaps and a windowsill plant grow with your practice, but nothing resets and nothing is taken away. A writing habit built on guilt tends not to last, so a quiet week costs you nothing here.
Who should pick something else
If you want a scrolling feed of quotes or affirmations, this isn't it; Dear You opens one letter at a time. If you want to journal with a partner or share entries, it's built for one person. It is a reflection and writing app, not a medical or mental-health service. One honest limit: future letters open inside the app on your iPhone, not by email, so keep the app (or your own backup) to receive them.
Questions before you open the first one
How do I write a letter to my future self?
Pick a date to open it, write to the person you hope to be by then, and include where you are now: what worries you, what you're proud of, and one question you want answered. Keep it honest rather than polished.
Can Dear You send a letter to my future self?
Yes, inside the app. You seal a letter for a week, a month, a year, three years or five. It stays locked until its day, even from you, then opens in Dear You. When it arrives you can write back and seal the reply for a later you.
Is Dear You an affirmations app?
Not quite. There is no quote feed and no scrolling. You choose what you need today and open one original letter written for it, which ends with one small step and a question to write back to.
Is Dear You free?
Your first daily letter, two Open When letters, one future letter waiting at a time, write-back notes, search, Face ID lock, PDF export and backup are free. Dear You Plus (annual or monthly) adds a fresh matched letter every day, the full Open When shelf, unlimited future letters, the Sunday letter, all seven Journeys and more.
Is my writing private?
There is no account, no ads and no analytics. Letters and notes stay on your iPhone, the app can be locked with Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode, and notifications never show your words.
What if I miss a few days?
Nothing resets and nothing is taken away. A quiet week costs you nothing.
P.S.
Open today's letter
Then write a line back, or seal one for a year from now.
